We decided to go to Pantai Remis on Friday. DH’s 2 brothers with their families came along, so it was a convoy of 3 cars.
I think we chose a wrong day to visit the place. It was Labor Day and most people just had their salary, so the crowd was big. Finding a place to park the car was already difficult, what more finding a table long(big) enough for all of us.
Anyway, we managed to find a table for all 13 of us (adults and kids, minus toddlers). We had a dinner of everything grilled – squids, prawns, fish and crabs! I think I ordered 4 different drinks for myself – iced tea, iced black coffee, iced Milo and iced Nescafe, all ordered at different times, and each of them were partially “hijacked” either by one of my kids, or nephews!
Despite waitresses with sour faces (I know they were tired, but we deserved to be served well, not with faces as if we had done something wrong with them!), we enjoyed our meals. Never mind our grilled cockles never came!
I hate to say this, but my observation is that a Malay seafood outlet is so different from a non-Malay one. The latter would serve you promptly and the waiter/waitress would be more than happy to serve you, and the former is just the opposite. Here at the one in Pantai Remis, we had to search ourselves for the cutleries, tissues, and even extra plates!
Here are some of the pix (not arranged chronologically):
I’m too sleepy now.
